
Roy Flood, Jr., MD, FACC is an interventional and clinical cardiologist in St. Thomas, USVI. He was previously affiliated with Capital Cardiology Consultants, P.C. in Washington, D.C. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. He has a special interest in the management of Acute Coronary Syndromes.
Dr. Flood earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As an undergraduate, he was the recipient the prestigious John Motley Morehead Scholarship, a full tuition scholarship awarded to select students demonstrating outstanding academic performance and leadership aptitude. Dr. Flood completed postgraduate training at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. He has research experience in interventional cardiology and the epidemiology of coronary artery disease in the African-American community. During his tenure in Washington, he was an active member of the teaching faculty at Washington Hospital Center and Providence Hospital.
Dr. Flood moved to St. Thomas in August 2004 to start a full-time practice of cardiology at the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital. It is his objective to provide education, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in St. Thomas by combining grass-roots efforts with recent advances in the management of cardiac disorders.
Dr. Flood recently served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Black Cardiologists. He is also active in the American College of Cardiology. He enjoys sporting events, distance running and contemporary literature in his leisure time.
